Assembly #127 announces all-star lineup at NEMCON XXVIII! |

Posted June 28, 2008- Tom Prete Assembly #127 of Wallingford CT will hold its 28th annual New England Magician's
Conference on Saturday March 14, 2009 at its new convention site, the Crown Plaza Hotel in Cromwell, Connecticut. The all-star lineup for this
great one day event will include Bob Little, David Boyd, comedy magician Levent, Eric DeCamps, Shawn Farquhar, and world renowned magician Eugene
Burger. The conference will honor Bob Little for his life time achievement as a magic dealer and his contributions to the art of magic. The fun
begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes a close-up show, three lectures, dealers and a gala evening show. Information is available at

Tom Prete Assembly 127 - 27th Annual New England Magicians Conference (NEMCON) |
Posted April 4, 2008 - Tom Prete Assembly 127 hosted a successful 27th Annual New England Magicians Conference (NEMCON). The
one-day convention was held March 8th at the Holiday Inn in North Haven, Connecticut and featured a
close-up show, three lectures, dealers and a gala evening show. Over 200 people packed the Holiday Inn
ballroom for the Gala evening show featuring Charlie Hayden, David Garrity, David London, Tom Craven,
Bob White and The Great Tomsonie & Co. (Johnny Thompson). S.A.M. Assembly 127 President Bill Hoagland
presented convention honoree Henry Holava with a plaque for his contributions to the art of magic, to
Assembly 127 and his work on NEMCON. Plans are well underway for the 28th NEMCON convention to be held

Assembly 127 Unveils Tom Prete Scholarship |

Posted January 26, 2008- Tom Prete Assembly #127 is accepting contributions to its newly-formed
Thomas R. Prete Memorial Scholarship for the Arts.
Tom died in 2007. He was a teacher, artist, entertainer and poet whose
impact on his community was far-reaching. When he retired from teaching in
the North Haven Connecticut school system, he opened a magic shop in nearby
Wallingford. He was a founder of Assembly #127 and achieved honorary
membership in the S.A.M. in 2005.
Assembly #127 will award a $300 scholarship to a deserving graduating high
school student living or attending school in the Wallingford-North Haven
area who plans to attend an institution of higher learning and major in
performing, visual, or graphic arts; or performing, visual or graphic arts
education. The first scholarship will be awarded in June 2008.
Assembly #127 also has produced a video tribute to Tom. It will air at
Assembly #127’s annual convention, NEMCON, to be held March 8 at the Holiday
Inn in North Haven.

the Arts and mailed to:

Assembly 206 Hosts March 12 National Council Meeting |
Posted April 17, 2007- Assembly 206 rolled out the red carpet for the National Council
meeting attendees. The meeting was productive and many serious issues were
discussed regarding future conventions, membership and dues. Special thanks to Doc Stan Seaton and
Ron Cartlidge for making all the arrangements.

Assembly #206: Austin Magic Auction raises funds for S.A.M. National Center |
Posted February 28, 2007- The Austin Magic Auction had a record year in profit.
This was the 25th Anniversary of the
auction and Assembly 206 has announced a donation of 10% of the profits. The auction
grossed around $18,000 in sales, a percentage of the profit will be donated to the
Society of American Magicians National Magic Center. Photo: 24 of the stage items received
a tip of the fez from auctioneer Scott Wells for bringing

Green Brook NJ Assembly #161 Fundraiser |
Posted February 15, 2007- Members of #161 of Green Brook NJ, did a fundraiser show on Feburary 9th for the family of a young man who had medical needs and were commended by local groups who agreed that magic is family entertainment. Posted February 4, 2007- Congratulations to Debbie Leifer who was named "2006 Magician of the Year" at a banquet meeting of the Georgia Magic Club (SAM Assembly #30 and IBM Ring # 9.) on January 20, 2007. Debbie, a full time corporate entertainer, was selected from a list of eight nominees.

Howard Schwarzman Named "Magician Of The Year 2007" |
Posted January 21, 2007- Parent Assembly #1 of the Society of American Magicians named Howard Schwarzman
It's 2007 Magician of the Year. The official presentation will be made at the 98th
Annual "Salute to Magiâ" show May 12 at the Heckscher Theater in New York.
Mr. Schwarzman has been a member of the Assembly for 45 years and has distinguished himself in the magical fraternity as being one of the top flight card magicians of the 20th century. Originally from New York, Howard was one of the founders of FAME the New York City young magicians club in the 1940's mentored by Abe Hurwitz. Now living in Baltimore Maryland, Mr., Schwarzman continues to be an active member of the magic fraternity, which recognizes his work as an innovator, writer and performer. He flies his own plane, is a talented piano player and is one of the most knowledgeable card performers in the country.
