Assembly 127 closes the books on their 30th NEMCON
Tom Prete Assembly 127 of Wallingford Connecticut celebrated its 30th annual
New England Magicians Conference (NEMCON) on Saturday, March 12, at the
Crown Plaza Hotel in Cromwell, Connecticut.
The convention started off on Friday night with a special one-man show, "An
Evening with Eric DeCamps." Eric performed many of his classic effects,
plus some new ones. Immediately following Eric's show, Assembly 127
celebrated its 30th convention with a champagne party.
A big Saturday morning close-up show kicked off the magic conference.
Charlie Cambra performed a coin routine starting with four coins, which
eventually multiplied to 30 coins in recognition of NEMCON'S 30th Magic
Conference. Cambra was followed by George Schindler, Geoff Williams, Angela
Funovits, Oscar Munoz and Rocco Silano
There were lectures throughout the day by Oscar Munoz, Rocco and Geoff
Williams. A luncheon hosted by the performers was well attended. NEMCON
attendees bid on some wonderful magic items during the silent auction
supporting the Tom Prete Scholarship Fund. In addition to attending the
close-up show and lectures, everyone found time to visit the busy dealer's
room.
The Crown Plaza ballroom was filled for the evening show. NEMCON Chairman
Henry Holava presented convention honoree Patrick Guida with a plaque for
his achievements in magic and his 27 years of involvement with NEMCON. A
spectacular evening show followed, featuring MC ("Mr. Showbiz") George
Schindler; from New York, 16 year-old Reuben Moreland; from Florida, Geoff
Williams; from Ohio, Angela Funovits; and from Texas, Oscar Munoz. Rocco
Silano closed the show with a standing ovation.
Plans will soon be underway for the 31st NEMCON convention to be held March
10, 2012. Visit Assembly 127's NEMCON web site at www.ctNEMCON.com for
