Veterans' Program

In keeping with the Society of American's Magicians' stated goal of using magic to enhance the life of anyone experiencing life challenges, the Veterans' Program is designed to encourage S.A.M. members to visit Veterans' hospitals and other places that veterans gather to bring them joy and laughter through the wonders of magic.

I urge you to share your time and talents as a small "thank you" to those brave men and women who have served our country in times of war and peace, but who have not yet been able to return to complete health. Volunteeringto perform anything from a stand-up stage show to a card trick at a soldier's bedside will give you satisfaction beyond measure.

How do you volunteer? Just look at the list of veterans' hospitals (see menu bar above) and choose one near you. Give ‘em a call. You'll be surprised at how welcome they will make you feel. Most hospitals will welcome one, two, or three magicians at a time. You can offer your services at a special event or as part of a planned holiday celebration. Either way, you will be rewarded with smiles and applause to gladden your heart.

The Society has had wonderful response from members who give unselfishly of their time and talent to entertain these deserving military veterans, whose sacrifices make ours seem small in comparison. Your contributions willmake a difference.

Please check out the menu items above to help you plan, promote, and report the event and let me know if I can help in any way.

Best regards,

Scott Hollingsworth
S.A.M. Veterans' Program Chairman
