SCOTT ALEXANDER

Scott has been a top working pro for many years and is one of the world's busiest magicians. His credits include headlining for six years at Caesar's Magical Empire in Las Vegas, performing luxury cruise ships and a guest spot on the "Oprah Winfrey show". Why haven't we heard of him? He's been working!


FRED BECKER

Fred Becker has an extensive performance resume having entertained on over 40 cruise ships including the QE2 and Silversea Cruises (awarded the top resort destination in the world). Fred is the author of the "Cruise Magicians' Handbook," He just returned from a tour of South America aboard the Star Princess. He is extremely popular at conventions because of his dynamic and personable style. Fred has starred in casino revue shows, theatres, resorts and has entertained President Ronald and Nancy Reagan at the Magic Castle in Hollywood He recently appeared with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marvin Hamlisch at the Kennedy Center. Becker has been recognized with several awards including the Jack Gwynne Award for Magical Excellence. Fred Becker was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.


BILL CORNELIUS

Bill didn't start in magic until he was 23 and ran away from the circus to join an orphanage. there he was befriended by a magician. After trying kid shows, restaurants, and close up, he found that comedy magic for adults was the path he wanted to go. he has been performing his funny, engaging brand of magic for the past 25 years regularly at banquets, private parties, funerals and comedy clubs. Bill has been a SAM member for 32 years and was president of Assembly 18 iHr has been a multiple award winner and has been elected Pittsburgh's "Magician of the Year" for the last 3 years.


CHRISTIAN AND KATALINA

Christian & Katalina tour all over the United States giving audiences a mind tripping experience. They have been called mentalists, magicians, and mind readers but most of all amazing entertainers. As the #1 Husband & Wife Comedy Mind Reading Act, Christian & Katalina take audiences on an adventurous mental ride with their special brand of entertainment. They are a much sought after act and are almost always performing somewhere including the prestigious Friar's club in NYC. As you watch Christian and Katalina perform you find yourself in a bizarre carnival like world where they twist and change the laws of physics. At one moment you will sit in jaw dropping amazement as this powerful duo just predicted your every decision and then you will laugh out loud as Christian tickles your brain. Throughout the show, this couple shows each other such affection that you find yourself squeezing the hand of your own partner. Christian & Katalina truly are entertainment experts. Christian also writes the bi-monthly column "Mental Breakdown" in MUM magazine and is the author of the book "Protoplasm" on Close-up Mentalism.


DAVID & DANIA

The world premier "Quick Change" couple "David & Dania" will close the Saturday night gala "Champions of Magic" show at the S.A.M. convention in Pittsburgh. Critics world wide have called them "Pure Magical Eye-Candy". They have appeared everywhere from a Royal Command Performance in London to The Oprah Winfrey Show. From the NBA to Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, David & Dania have set the standard. As an added event they have agreed to do a special "Workshop" to teach their incredible Styles, Techniques, Construction and Know-How at a rare one time only extra fee event limited to no more than fifty people.


MARC DESOUZA

Marc Desouza is a Philadelphia native with an International reputation in the Magic Community. As a performer, inventor, author, lecturer and motivational speaker, his talents have been displayed at gatherings throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. Marc is the only two-time winner of the Society of American Magicians National Stage Magic Competition, in 1978 and again in 1989. In 1995, Marc became the first magician our organization's history to win the prestigious Silver Medal in both the Stage and Close-Up categories. In July of 1996, Marc made magical history again by becoming one of only two magicians to win first place in Close-Up Magic at both S.A.;M. and IBM in the same year. Mark is one of the featured performers on the Close-Up Special Face Off show and if you are an early bird attendee, '(night before)" You will see his "History of Magic" a performance demonstration and PowerPoint slide presention.


ED ELLIS

"Billed as the guy with the "World's Fastest Hands", Ed Ellis and his card work are Legendary. Favorable comments follow his work everywhere both a performer and lecturer, He has performed at IBM conventions in both the US and in England as a winner at the International Battle of the Magicians. SHAWN FARQUHAR

Shawn Farquhar has been entertaining audiences around the globe for over two decades. His magic has been seen on Television shows like the X-Files and Highlander, in Motion Pictures like Spooky House and the Fly II, for corporate clients like IBM and Konica, and on the most luxurious cruise vessels such as Norwegian Star and Radiance of the Seas. He is an "Award Winning" act. Don't take our word. The Canadian Association of Magicians awarded Shawn the MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR in 2003 and 2010, the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians awarded him the GRAND PRIX D'HONNEUR, the International Brotherhood of Magicians awarded him both STAGE MAGICIAN and SLEIGHT OF HAND MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR, making him the ONLY magician in history to win BOTH world championships and the Olympics of Magic in Beijing, China awarded him the highest award in magic, the GRAND PRIX WORLD CHAMPION OF MAGIC in 2009!


PAUL GERTNER

Paul is recognized by his peers as one of the finest sleight-of-hand magicians in the world today. His first place awards in international competitions in Las Vegas, Madrid and Miami confirms this status. His original routines, like Unshuffled and The Cups and Balls with Steel Ball Bearings have become classics of magic - leaving experts totally amazed. His "Ten Fingers" show has amazed audiences everywhere.


MICHAEL GRASSO

Michael Grasso - Is the first ever magician to reach the TOP 10 America's Got Talent finalists position. The future of magic is bright and Michael Grasso is one of the true shining stars in a new generation of conjurors around the world. He combines manipulations with live music and has captured the imaginations of audiences around the world. His talents have also been featured on numerous television series and specials On TLC's series "Magic's Greatest Illusions", Michael introduced a crew of his Gen X Magical Peers to the world. This led to starring roles on two seasons of the hit NBC "Hidden Magic" series, "Them", and the ultra-cool MTV series, titled "Room 401". From Hollywood's Magic Castle, nightclubs in New York, the beaches of Aruba, the bustling streets of India, and major casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, Michael has established himself as a dynamic stage presence captivating audiences with his skill and charm.


HAYWIRE

If you check Webster's dictionary, HayWire, adjective, is explained: informal or slang terms for mentally irregular, bonkers, buggy, cracked, kooky, loco, loony, loopy, nutty, wacky. We figure Webster pretty much nailed it on the head! HayWire is a two man comedy magic team influenced by greats like Laurel and Hardy, TheThree Stooges, and Abbott and Costello. This should be quite apparent as these two tie their magic skits together with comedic story lines in an hilarious act.


JOHN HROMADA

Just a good ol' boy, never meanin' no harm... Johnny has been seen at Elmo's Rib Shack, The Roadkill Diner, Liquor Barn, Jethro's 8th Birthday, and the Possum Hollow Municipal court. (All charges dropped!) People from all over have enjoyed his antics and you might too! Or not, but he gets paid. He will try not to get a big head. The rest of him is big enough already.


JOSHUA JAY

Twenty-eight-year-old Joshua Jay has been called magic's Renaissance man by MAGIC Magazine. It's not hard to see why: he is a performer, lecturer, author, and photographer of all things mysterious. Jay has performed in over fifty countries and appears regularly on national television (most recently on Good Morning America and the Today Show). He performs with ordinary, borrowed objects, causing them to twist, bend, appear, and vanish at will. At only seventeen years old Joshua Jay was crowned world champion for close-up magic at the World Magic Seminar, But he's not just a performer. In 2009 he penned a best-selling magic book, MAGIC: The Complete Course, and had his fine-art photography exhibited in several shows (appearing currently at the Culture Museum in Linz, Austria).


DAVID KAPLAN

The Great Kaplan in a one man comedy/variety show inspired by the antics of Keaton, Sellers, Victor Borge, the Smothers Brothers and the illustrious Wile E. Coyote among others, "The Great" David Kaplan's most spectacular accomplishment is emerging from the performance in one piece. As his world seemingly crumbles, he manages to tame a rogue bowling ball, juggle furniture, perform feats of prestidigitation, and play melodies on "concert balloon", turkey baster and his great grandfather's ukulele, -- all to the delight of a charmed audience. Kaplan has won numerous awards including first place medals at the Canton Battle of Magicians and the Columbus Magi-fest, the coveted "People's Choice" award at the 2006 International Brotherhood of Magicians convention in Miami and placed 2nd at the 2008 IBM/SAM Competition.


NATHAN KEPNER

Nathan Kepner brings his unique brand of magic to the stage by fusing the style of the jazz era with dynamic, original effects. A Harrisburg native, Nathan was first internationally recognized at the age of 17 as the 2005 World Magic Seminar's Teen Stage Champion and to date has earned a total of six national and international awards. As a performer, however, he explores beyond the world of magic and presents an array of circus arts added to his repertoire. Nathan has spent the last year in New Orleans, where has been able to hone his variety-style skills not only as a stage magician, but also as a street performer.


AN HA LIM

One of the most original card manipulators on the magic scene today. Another award winner who will be appearing in Pittsburgh. The question most asked was "Who was that Korean Kid who won the 'First Place' prize at the joint IBM/SAM convention in Louisville?" He also was the "First Place: winning manipulator" at the World Magic Seminar. Ah Ha Lim was recently the featured cover story in the August 2010 Genii magazine. Not just another card act, Ha Lim offers an unique experience in manipulation.


HOWARD MINCONE

The very funny and amazing... Howard Mincone! Strongly influenced by comic legends Harpo Marx, Jackie Gleason, Red Skelton, Dick Van Dyke and John Ritter. Howard's performances combine comic movement, stand up comedy, and juggling. With his very unusual and hilarious performance, Howard has become one of the most popular entertainers for variety shows, corporations and special events across North America the Caribbean and Peoples Republic of China. A combination of a physical comedian, juggler, and the antics of a large five year old, and with what seems to be boundless energy, mix them all together and what do you have? HOWARD MINCONE!


DOUG RIES

Doug Ries is an all around enthusiast when it comes to magic. He loves everything about the magic world and entertainment in general. His company Flip Disc Productions located near Pittsburgh does high end DJ productions and magic. Doug designs and builds magic apparatus for all different styles of magicians world wide. He is also a fine performer.


SOMA

...for Soma, it's his life. Throughout the past decade Soma has developed a unique way of entertainment, which took him all around the world. His original phone-act, acclaimed by his peers as "magic as unique, and as original as it gets", appeared in gala-shows and magic conventions all around Europe, the United States and Asia. He has won many prizes in many countries. The main objective of Soma's magic is to deliver an experience never seen before. A professional way of entertainment: That is the purest expression of what he does.


DAVIDE SOUSA

Davide Sousa was born, in Espinho, Portugal and s ince he was very young, he has had a very special taste for impossible things beginning with a Mickey Mouse Magic Box for his sixth birthday. Some years later at the age of eighteen he decided to participate in a local contest for young talent at the Casino of Espinho. He won the First Prize, in 1998. David performs a beautiful and elegant act. He delights his audiences making doves appearing from silks and playing cards from his empty hands; he performs a classical Chinese linking Rings routine and finished by creating a huge snow storm from a few pieces of paper. After winning a top prize at the FISM World Championships of Magic in 2006, David has been invited to appear on several television channels and many well known venues, not only in Europe but also in America and Asia.


JAY STERLING

Jay Sterling is an eye doctor who treats the eyes by day and tricks them by night. As a specialist in optical illusions, he is also a four-time international award winner for his act known as "Figment." Jay has performed and lectured for many corporate audiences across the globe and recently authored a book titled, "The Other Side of Vision." Watch him very closely and try not to blink ... as you will surely "question what you see."





Stars of Tomorrow Performers

TIMOTHY CRIPE

Fifteen-year-old Timothy Cripe has performed for thousands of people all over the U.S., from Las Vegas to New York. This multi-talented teen from Denver, Colorado, has been mentored by some of the top names in magic, and in 2010, he received the Mentalist of the Year Award from the Magicians Association of Eastern States and the Lance Burton Award of Excellence at the World Magic Seminar.


ISABELLE DORIS DODD

Isabelle Doris Dodd likes figure skating, swimming, sewing and of course, magic. This 11-year-old from Needham, Massachusetts, has belonged to S.Y.M. Y029 in Boston for four years. She has won Assembly Y029’s Larry the Leprechaun award for the use of comedy in her act and the John Calvert award for the use of music in her act.


HAYDEN CHILDRESS

Hayden Childress, “Haydini,” the MC for the Stars of Tomorrow Show, has been performing magic for six years. His unique and offbeat style has earned him gigs at comedy clubs, restaurants and festivals near his hometown of Rock Hill South Carolina, where he is known for his originality, creativity and dedication to excellence. This 17-year-old honor student is also an accomplished actor, having played the leads in The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Annie Get your Gun, and most recently, Willy Wonka.


MA-SA-YA

In 2010, Ma-sa-ya traveled from his home in southwest Japan to Tokyo to study magic, where he met Dr. Shigero Tashiro, who would become his magic teacher. Now 17, Ma-Sa-Ya belongs to the Japan Close-up Magicians’ Association and dreams of becoming a professional magician and traveling all over the world.


BLAKE NIELSEN

Blake Nielsen, 15, of Littleton, Colorado, has performed all over Colorado and has used his talent to support charities such as the Make a Wish Foundation. A member of the Pikes Peak Prestidigitators and the Mile High Magicians, Blake joined the Society of Young Magicians in 2009. He also is an accomplished tournament chess player and has earned a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.


VINCENT VILLAMONTE

Vincent Villamonte, 17, has been has been performing shows by himself since he was 11. He joined the S.Y.M. in 2009, the same year he took first place in close-up at the Texas Association of Magicians convention. In 2010, he was a featured performer at TAOM. Vincent is the 2011 recipient of the David Berglas Foundation Scholarship and the youngest member of Lincoln Nebraska’s Magic Mafia.


JAMES WILSON

James Wilson, 17, hails from Buckinghamshire, England. He received his first magic set when he was seven, after which he badgered his parents to let him join the Magic Circle’s Young Magician’s Club, where is now a silver medalist. He also demonstrates magic at Camden Market in London and during the summer trains young people in circus skills. He also builds some of his own effects, some of which will be used in his act. James graduated in May with a diploma in Technical Theater.
