Tradition of Great Galas To Continue in Atlanta

Since 1999, Convention Show Producer R.G. Smith has provided us with a unique, ongoing series of very special gala shows.

RG Smith, carrying on the tradition of Hank Moorehouse, the SAM has presented countless new and unique magic and variety acts. Atlanta will be no exception.

Wednesday Opening Gala
Amazing Atlanta!

We open on Wednesday night with "Amazing Atlanta!" An area rich with great magic talent, Atlanta's finest will offer up 7 terrific regional acts. Host Debbie Leifer has worked with the SAM to ignite the 2010 convention and get us ready for 3 more days of excitement.

We look forward to Debbie performing and introducing Joe M. Turner, Arthur Atsma, Paul Sponaugle, Bill Clary, James Brandon and Ken Scott. This will be one terrific opening gala, and, there may be a few more surprises that are yet to be announced.

Rising Stars, Magic's Great Young Professionals - Part I

You all remember the enormously successful IBM/SAM combined convention just two years ago. R.G. Smith was honored to be one of the stage contest judges and an idea for a future SAM unique gala was born.

In addition to the 6 stage finalists, there were several dynamic, young artists who presented great acts. Why not get a few of the best, add one or two more and have an entire gala dedicated to those rising stars?

On, Friday night we will see what this new, next generation has to offer. Our emcee will be the multi-talented Trigg Burrage. At 20 years of age, Trigg has already made his mark on the world of magic. Currently at student at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, he has been (twice) on the "Stars of Tomorrow" show, won/placed in contests in Florida, Texas and Las Vegas.

Also on the bill are The Reed Sisters. Jessica, Shayna and Mandy presented their breakout performance, "The Sister Act," in Louisville and received a terrific ovation. In their high energy act, they present illusions, comedy and drama. The Reed Sisters show class, style and charisma and also let us know how great family magic can be.

Dylan Ace is another incredibly successful young talent. He's been hooked on magic since age 6. He's performed illusions, escapes and close up on countless TV shows/networks in the USA, Spain, South America and more. Being bi-lingual and multi-talented has opened the world to Dylan Ace.

Straight from the stage of the Magic Castle, we welcome Kyle Eschen. This rising star is the youngest American performer ever to be featured at the Castle's Palace of Mystery. He was also voted the 2008 Best Teen Magician and was featured on the Masters of Illusion TV series. Kyle prefers to take older, classical magic effects and present them as only he can do. He uses dry wit to portray a socially challenged, somewhat insecure person, with just the right touch of cynicism. Folks, this kid is funny. We are so pleased Kyler Eshcen is with us.

Omar Ferret is another act who caught the eye of our show producer during the combined convention stage contest. Omar and his wife, Anabel, were both born in Cuba. Performing began with the Cuban National Circus. Then it was on to first place at FLASOMA. This led to cruise ship work and hotel showroom bookings in Cuba, Spain, France and Colombia. Now living and working in Miami, they are taking time off to be with us in Atlanta. You must see Omar Ferret and Anabel. That's not all on the Friday gala. Suffice to say, you will be very surprised with a special mystery guest. Ya' gotta' see this one!

ALL THIS PLUS
"PEOPLE'S CHOICE CONTEST"

Thursday Evening- The audience and the judges decide from an array of great performers chosen from among the best videos submitted to the committee- Always a Hit Show. Be There!

Great American Magic Convention Spectacular

The Saturday closing gala is designed to share some familiar names, some new names and some who have not been with the SAM shows for many years.

One of our favorite emcees, Aldo Colombini (with Rachel Wild), will be with us and handling the pacing of the show as only Aldo can. We can't wait to see what they have planned for us.

We'd tell you more about Aldo & Rachel but you, no doubt, know all about their fabulous careers. They do it all, stage, publishing, products, close-up, lectures---you name it and Aldo and Rachel can do it.

Ice McDonald will travel across the USA to be with us as well. Setting a standard as stage act, mentor, lecturer and overall incredible person, Ice will open our Saturday gala. The King of Cool has been featured in many magic publications and has coached several your artists who have gone on to fine performing careers. It has been several years since Ice has been with us and we welcome him home to the SAM stage.

Tim Wright, or as you know him, Skilldini will be with us, too. It is so much fun to watch this confident, surprising manipulator work through an act that has taken him from Ohio(?) to Las Vegas to the stage of the Magic Castle. He has published in several trade magazines and worked all major events and venues. The Great One now comes to Atlanta.

Another up and coming artist noticed on the stage of the combined convention contest is Michael Tallon. His mastery of the craft, combined with his innovative and original set, is a testament to his dedication and commitment to the art of magic. Just last year in Buffalo, he won the Seabrooke Red Seal Comedy Award and the Brad Jacobs People's Choice Award. Need we say more? Get ready to laugh with us when Michael Tallon tries to find the chosen card.

Arthur Trace, too, is one of the up and coming great acts in the world of magic. Taking an idea to the ultimate is what he has done with his modern art piece. In addition to that, he has created numerous new pieces that are unique to him. Not satisfied with one award winning, world wide famous manipulation act, Arthur continues to develop new and astounding material that he will share with us. We always look forward to a forward looking artist.

And if that isn't enough, we have invited Stoil & Ekaterina close out the show. With color, style and excitement, they bring their quick change act to Atlanta. This is an act that started in Bulgaria and has performed worldwide. From Europe to Vegas, these two have taken the art of quick change to thousands of astounded audiences. What a way to end a show!
