A wonderful man who did so much for young magicians. Glad I had a chance to surprise him on my visit to Portland. He will be missed.

Leo Haglund was an integral part of the foundation of the S.A.M. in the Northwestern Regional States for many years.

Leo's service to the S.A.M. is legendary. He served in almost every officer position with Assembly 59, often repeating his service, many times. Leo served as Assembly 59 President three times, Vice President twice, as Treasurer four times and as Secretary, continously, for 16 years. He also served as Oregon Deputy for 8 years, continously, and as Regional Vice President for two years. He helped organize many shows for Assembly 59 and was always ready to teach an effect, to enter competition and to bring out smiles from everyone.

Leo was often assisted by his extraordinary wife, Willamae, or "Willie" for short, and sometimes other family members.

Leo received the Beneficus Ars Magia award from Camelard College in 2011.

He was a really great person with a passion for magic. Leo's presence will be missed by all who knew him.
